happy Spring Equinox!

Hello, dear ones -

Happy Spring Equinox!

We're at the balance point of even days and even nights. And that got me reflecting a bit on balance and how a machine-oriented understanding of balance is something akin to "everything working consistently, as it should, and requiring no maintenance."

Yet if we look at myth, at ancestral skills, at animist and land-connected worldviews; we see an understanding that life is maintenance.

Relationships require maintenance. Harmony within this Life-Death-Mystery spiral we've incarnated into requires engagement and maintenance... and also comes with ebbs and flows, periods of creation and periods of dissolution.

So what does that mean for this "balance point" moment in the solar calendar?

Hmmm.... maybe not quite what we think? Maybe it's not so quiet and composed?

I recorded a video (about 8min long) where I draw a connection between the spring season and the five cards in the tarot decks. Between the astrology of eclipses, Aries season, and this moment. And tease out the idea a bit that sometimes balance means "course correction" and those moments are rarely comfortable. Look for it under the title: "The one thing you can get wrong is to not let yourself be changed” - balance, upheaval, and the Spring Equinox"

**the links above and below are to Substack, but you can find the episodes on the Wild Sacred Journey YouTube channel, or on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and many other podcasting platforms.

In the last couple of days, I've also shared a few other videos on navigating new levels of "charge" and integrating after peak, expansive experiences.

There's the 10min-long “Full to the brim and overwhelmed with ideas, sensitivity, or some new big expansion?” - a somewhat silly analogy for when we are “biting off more than we can chew” and how that can relate to opening to our own sensitivity, intuition, creature senses, spiritual path… and how Grounding the Charge is designed to support you in stabilizing and metabolizing your awakening.

And there's the 17min-long “Your “downloads” don’t come from a broadcast and not all growth is expansive - how to approach intuitive development and the expansion of peak experiences from a more animist and ancestral perspective” - where I lay out two concepts we hear a lot in the spirituality/ wellness/ intuitive development space: “receiving downloads” and “expansive growth”; and how I worry that we can still get tripped up by a more machine-oriented worldview that seems coupled to those words. I share what I think a more animist and ancestral perspective is we can bring to the act of receiving wisdom from the Otherworld and to the process of our own growth. And, yes, there’s another plug for Grounding the Charge.

These videos feel helpful in these times - both of our collective and the natural world - but they're also a way of sharing a bit more about this Grounding the Charge workshop I have coming up, tomorrow (Sat Mar 21, 2026).

Grounding the Charge:

The workshop itself came about through conversation with friend, colleague, and founder of OracelFest, Kate Graham.

In many of these big gatherings, whether they're retreats, courses with lots of different instructors, or festivals/ summits... there's always desire to share as much as possible to as many people as possible, which, when coupled with this fear that almost all organizers seem to have around making sure they deliver enough value...gets... overwhelming. For everyone.

We can leave feeling water-hosed with new ideas, new content, new connections. And it's not uncommon to crash in exhaustion or even get sick in the weeks following the program. Our system can't hold it all and shuts down.

Friends- this is part of that internalized empire-greed, coupled with the genuine hunger we feel from a lack of real, nourishing culture. It's wanting more-more-more and not knowing what to do with it. It's taking bites that are too big and barely swallowing, much less digesting.

To practice animism, to live as creature, we recognize that when we attend events like this, we're entering into a relationship with wisdom and the Otherworld and that after a magical first encounter comes the work of actually developing intimacy. Or we're entering into a period of expansive growth and after leaves grow, roots need to deepen.

So I often find myself advocating for more integration in these spaces. Sometimes the founders and organizers are open to it, sometimes not (after all, customers who aren't integrating usually end up more desperate and more eager to buy again - in the short term. In the long term, it actually harms our trust in the wellness and spirituality spaces and even in these animist and ancestral technologies and their efficacy).

But some, like Kate G, listen and agree and have the long-term wellness of their community (and our relationship with intuition) in mind. And so we decided to offer a special workshop to offer tools for post-peak experience integration and stabilization.

You'll probably find it helpful if you're:

  • awakening your intuitive gifts and sensitivity and feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the input you're now receiving but don't want to just numb back out again;
  • sensitive and not sure how to stay open and heart-centered in these challenging and painful times as a collective;
  • wanting to live as a creature again, not machine, and realizing some more understanding of your nervous system would be helpful in navigating a relational world.

With a practical, embodied, and animist approach; we’ll get into:

  • some of the different types of “charge” that can show up in our lives and how those map onto our nervous systems;
  • how the nervous system and physical body interact with our intuitive gifts;
  • some ways to find out your own current personal pattern re navigating charge;
  • an animist and ancestral approach to co-regulating our nervous system;
  • and setting and holding boundaries as an act of channeling life force energy.

All to support you being a fully alive, fully human, expressive and receptive Presence in the world at a time when the world needs us coherent and in our gifts.

The workshop runs live tomorrow, Saturday March 21; from 2-4pm ET. Join us?

A recording will be sent if you can't attend live.

with Big Love and prayers for wild mercy upon us,

Kate

Hi! I'm Kate - an intuitive, medicine woman, and guide for embodied Presence

Are you a compassion warrior, culture worker, and rebel who cares deeply about humanity; who's tired of doing all the “right things” and still getting what you’re trying to avoid; and who feels trapped between burning it all down or dying but would rather be wildly, and sacredly alive? I'm an animist and ancestral wisdom guide; ceremonialist, and empath. And I love guiding other humans who want to use their burnout and purpose anxiety as a jumping-off point to journey into their shadows and the shadows of modern society in order to de-armor their hearts; remember a deeper, wilder sense of belonging to the world; and reclaim the rich and sacred spark of their aliveness. This newsletter contains wisdom nuggets, podcast episodes, and invitations to paid and free offerings from my business. All in support of remembering a more animist and land-based culture; holding firm to our humanity in a dehumanizing world; and living with compassion, vulnerability, and reverence.

Hello, dear ones - Like "community" or "nervous system regulation," the word "ceremony" is a big buzz word in the wellness and spiritual spaces right now. There are cacao and other plant medicine ceremonies and moon gatherings. Every retreat seems to promise "ceremony" as being part of it. And what about weddings? Aren't they ceremonies, too? (Even though I've experienced some that sure didn't feel like a meaningful or spiritual experience...) As someone who is stepping into offering...

Hello, dear ones - Summer is ripening in my corner of the world right now, though it's been a strange one. Some days, unseasonably cool. Others, unseasonably hot. Drought, then a week of steady rain. The Earth seems to be mirroring back to us just how much we've lost the middle way. How much it's become normal for us to swing between extremes. To think only of destinations and speed up or zone out the journey between. I have some travel coming up in July and August and I was debating between...

Hello, dear ones - Happy Bealtainn (on the Gregorian calendar and in the Northern Hemisphere) and Full Moon in Scorpio (in the Tropical zodiac). Many of our ancient ancestors seem to have recognized two main seasons - summer and winter. The light half of the year and the dark half. Their understandings of what this means precisely would have varied based on how the seasons showed up for them on the lands where they lived. But in the far north Gaelic world, they marked these transitions not on...
