Hello, dear ones -
I write to you from the floor of a friend’s house outside of Santa Fe where I’m staying warm by lying in a sun spot and trying not to doze off to the sounds of wind rattling outside the house and the dog snoring near me.
How has your January been so far? Since Insight 2026 closed and the final readings went out (thank you to everyone who got one - what beautiful readings came through this year!), I’ve been enjoying a bit of hibernation and rest. Sinking in to the energy of the season, working mostly on some projects quietly in the background so that as the sun gains strength, these projects will hopefully be ready to start heading out into the world. Projects like: self-paced workbooks to help you on your journey of unplugging from the machine and building your skills at being a human-creature again; or approaching burnout as an initiation; or staying in your body and in your humanity in times of stress and conflict; or how to build out your own ritual and ancestral connection practices… plus some other ideas that I won’t name yet because they’re realistically several years down the line (at least) and they’re still tender and needing to be held close.
These ideas won’t manifest immediately, or, at least not all of them all at once. But they’ve been slowly growing in me for several years and now begins the labor of bringing them through into something more tangible. Bit by bit. With the slow, quiet support of the dark winter soil.
New Year Updates:
In order to support these background efforts and my sense that we’re ALL desiring more simplicity and ease right now, I’m playing around with a few shifts heading into this new year:
- I’ve deleted social media apps from my phone and will only check in there once or twice per week. I may post occasionally but this email list will be the best place to stay up-to-date on what I have going on and will also be the best place to reach me. This might only be a temporary move… or, it might not. I’m actually loving having back the chunks of time I used to spend scrolling as time I can now spend caring for myself and the other humans in my life, creating, sleeping more deeply, and practicing what I preach being more of a human-creature again!
- I also recognize that these last few years, while I’ve been in a deep initiatory process of trial, error, and unlearning to rediscover who I am and what works for me in the wake of burnout; these emails and my own sense of what I’m doing in and through this business have been a little all over the place. If you’ve been with me for the ride, thank you. Truly. I don’t take it for granted. If you’re familiar at all with Human Design, I’m a 1/3 Profile Line - meaning, I learn through studying, yes, but also through doing and failing and trying again until I find what works and can speak from lived experience. So there will always be an element of that present because that’s who I am. But I'm also aware there is so much noise right now, so much that’s scattered and scattering; and as an act of generosity and care for all of us; I want to set up some more clarity and structure we can rely on in these emails. So while my work and my perspective will always fall more in the mythopoetic and liminal, the emotional realms; I’m shifting that method of communication and those musings over to blogs and videos on Substack, YouTube, and podcasting platforms. I’ll link to those in these emails so you can set aside a time when you want to dive in to that type of communication, but these emails will aim to stay more functional: links to the content you might want to explore and information on upcoming events, offers, and services (plus subject lines that hopefully keep it clear what the email is about so you can discern quickly if you want to read it or not). These are all things that might be more helpful to a brain that’s in hyper discernment mode, trying to sort and keep up with an overflowing and never-ending inbox. I’m currently imagining I’ll send two emails per month (one in the beginning and one in the middle); with a few more when there’s an offer coming up that I want to make sure you have enough information about to decide if it’s for you or not.
So here, goes. Our middle-of-the-month updates:
The "Wild Sacred Journey Podcast" and "Creature Comfort videos" (Update):
In the last couple years my nomad status has forced me to be a bit experimental with the podcast, too - playing with frequency and whether they were solo episodes or conversations. This last year I took a pretty long break from posting anything.
Then, a few weeks ago as I was out for a walk one night, the idea came to me to start an offshoot of the Wild Sacred Journey podcast for shorter solo videos. I’m calling them “Creature Comfort” videos - videos to affirm, inspire, give context to, and, yes, comfort your creature self as you unplug from burnout and the life of a machine and become more vital and alive human again.
I’m aiming for 1 or 2/ week of these videos, duration 6-20min long. They’ll post to Substack, YouTube, and most major podcasting platforms under the Wild Sacred Journey Podcast; and then either one monthly or every other month of longer conversations with a guest on the subject of being human, which will also be posted to those same places.
Recent Videos/ episodes:
“Winter is a time of growth (just not in the way you think” (14min) - if you want some more nuance around the idea of rest in winter and are tired of always feeling like you’re having to react to things while they’re happening, rather than co-create things at the meeting point of your personal timing and the timing of the seasons.
“Hawthorns, winter dormancy, making offerings, and practicing a different type of economy” (12min) - some musings around the practice of making offerings and what that can show us about less extractive and exploitative economic models.
“Feeding the birds, collective nervous systems, and being both OK and not OK at the same time” (16min) - a deeper conversation around how the human nervous system works in relationship with the world around it and why co-regulating with the natural world (as opposed to just the digital world) may be key to sustaining ourselves through the crumbling of the world order and the challenges of these times.
“All Is Not Lost - Remembering Myth, Regenerating Culture, Third things, and Being Human in These Times of Not-Belonging” with Stephanie MacKay (1hr 16min) - a beautiful and deep conversation with mythologist, wilderness guide, and cultural craftswoman, Stephanie MacKay, who is devoted to the long, slow work of remembering how to belong - to land, to lineage, to story, and to each other.
“Life is a Trickster (and the Holy Ones are in on it)” (9min) - a funny anecdote about one of my new year rituals and how the Universe has a twisted sense of humor, plus why a sense of humor is important in being human, not machine and how the Trickster archetype might help us remember how to be alive.
**the links above are all to Substack, but you can find the episodes on the Wild Sacred Journey YouTube channel, or on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and many other podcasting platforms.
Upcoming Events and Offers:
#1
Back for its second year: the BIG OracleFest Online Event 2026 (Jan 30-Feb 2). I was part of its inaugural year last year and this year there will be even more speakers, healers, mystics, channelers, and “luminaries” as they call us. This isn’t a summit, it’s an online festival - no airfare or accommodations needed, attend right from the comfort of your home.
OracleFest is about each of us listening to our inner oracle, and remembering how to make meaning together. It’s a space created by Kate Graham (who has been on my podcast) and held with a lot of integrity, where people from many backgrounds come together to explore intuition, creativity, healing, and the deeper questions of being human right now.
You can expect channeled messages, transmissions, sound baths, ceremonies and rituals, workshops, panel discussions, and live readings (folks with a Zoom room-access pass can ask questions and the luminaries present will channel answers through either tarot or oracle cards or their Guides).
And there are a range of pricing options to choose from.
I’ll be offering my Living As Creature, Not Machine transmission (I'll send a separate email with more info on this transmission I'm starting to offer different places) and will be on Monday, Feb 2nd from 3-4pm ET. I may also be guiding and supporting integration work in the days following this massively expansive and opening event.
Grab a ticket here.
#2
And March 8th at the Workhouse Arst Center in Lorton, VA, I’ll be joining their Sunday Wellness Series to offer another Living as Creature, Not Machine workshop/ transmission. The event is 4-5:30pm ET. Cost is $35.
You can register for my workshop specifically here (and check out the other offers in their Sunday Wellness Series - they’re scheduled out through March and have sound baths, tarot reading, meditative movement, etc). You can also listen to the human behind the vision for the series share about it on a local news station here.
with wild mercy for our human-creature selves in these times,
Kate
