Hello, dear ones -

Every where in the world there is evidence that at one point in time, in times of upheaval or before major decisions or transitions, people sought clarity and guidance from seers, oracles, shamans, medicine people or whatever the name was for their practitioners of divination.

Why might they have done this?

Because most of us can't see jack shit.

Seriously.

As we move through our day-to-day, we usually kind of suck at seeing the forest for the trees.

Plus, there are way bigger forces at play, waves of energy moving through the Universe, ripples through webs of Fate and relationship, actions and consequences, than most of us can perceive.

So we appeal to those skilled in consulting the Otherworld for a compass when we can't see the way ahead or know that we're moving into uncharted territory where we won't be able to map things off past experience.

It's a way of grounding and bringing a sense of comfort to the dark nights of the soul and the pathless wilderness where we've never been before.

It might help us recognize meaningful markers which we otherwise would've passed by without a second thought.

And it usually does so in a more mytho-poetic language. A language that can stand up to the tension and liminality of unmarked terrain. Images that can rattle around in our dreams or pop out at us in our lives in unexpected places.

A more rational and mind-based language works best in familiar territory. (That's part of why affirmations and goals often crumble in the face of ego deaths and the unraveling of familiar ways of being and relating. Even if they're trying to call in something new, they're the other side of a familiar coin. Not new territory all together).

These times - eclipse season, astrological shifts, old world order crumbling - are calling for tools to help us navigate new territory.

And AI is not an oracle. It might be able to see patterns like an oracle. But it doesn't tap into the Holy and the energetic field containing the wisdom of our ancestors. It's designed to affirm us, not invite and challenge us out of our comfort zone. It cannot help us be creatures again.

But runes, tarot cards, etc can. They can act as bridge or portal between the Otherworld and this material one.

In many old cultures it was believed we can never be in direct contact with the God, Goddesses, Holy, Lords and Ladies of Life and Death. It would overwhelm us. Altars, idols, myths, and divination tools acted as mouthpieces for those Sacred Powers. Intermediaries of a sort.

This was all stuff I believed and was aiming for with my Insight offer. But it wasn't until I started getting messages and emails from people letting me know how much their readings were guiding, supporting, challenging, and leaving them feeling more hopeful and clear when lost and confused that I knew it was somehow happening.
